The MSM-1 is a fully pre-configured sound and light module for RC models and therefore a module that is easy to use for modellers with little experience. 14 different model types with all sound and light settings are permanently stored in the memory. The desired model can be selected using your own remote control. No extra software, no computer and no other programming hardware is required to select the model! However, it is not possible without reading the instructions.

The MSM-1 has 6 proportional inputs that can analyse 6 channels of an RC receiver. The 1st channel is always the throttle channel, the 2nd channel is the steering on most models. The remaining 4 channels can be used to control additional sounds and lights. The sound and light functions differ depending on the model type. To realise various lighting effects, the MSM-1 has 8 switching outputs to which LEDs, lamps and relays can be connected, for example. Light functions, brake lights, indicators, etc. can thus be easily controlled to match the sound and movement. For the driving sounds, suitable sounds such as starting sound, parking sound, starting sound, stopping sound, stationary sound, braking sound, reversing alarm, cornering squeal, indicator sound are available for each type. Depending on the model, the additional sounds include horn, compressed air fan, ship's horn, echo sounder, turret rotation, machine gun, cannon shot, radio message, animal noises, hydraulic noise, siren, announcements. A loudspeaker with an impedance of at least 4 Ω and a power rating of at least 8 W can be connected to the MSM-1 sound module. We recommend using a full-range loudspeaker with 4 Ω or 8 Ω. Speakers with a higher impedance will of course also work, but the volume decreases increasingly with higher impedance. To achieve optimum volume and sound quality, the loudspeaker should be installed in a suitable resonance body (loudspeaker box). The volume of the module depends on the applied supply voltage and can also be influenced via the remote control or an optional rotary control.

The amplifier output stage generates a certain amount of heat due to power loss, which must be dissipated into the ambient air. In general, therefore, care should always be taken to ensure the best possible heat dissipation (air circulation) in the area of the sound module. Active cooling of the sound module with a small fan may be necessary, especially at higher voltages (e.g. above 9.6 V).

The module currently has an interface for data cable K-USB-2 (currently without function!) or IR transmitter diode for light modules LM-IR-8-1 and LM-IR-16-4.
