With the dynamic influence of the Optima felt throughout the RC racing scene, the most powerful machine in the series, the Turbo Optima, was released in 1986. Until now. In addition to the large-diameter tyres, high-performance shocks, front and rear anti-roll bars and Le Mans 240S engine, the immortal Turbo Optima has been updated for 8.4V performance and makes its debut as the seventh model in the vintage series. The key components of the Turbo Optima chassis have been redesigned to meet the demands of modern racing conditions and power sources, and share DNA with the Optima and Javelin. Not a simple reproduction of the original, the new Turbo Optima features gold-anodized parts that were optional upgrades on the original, gold shock absorbers with a chassis height adjustment wheel, and new modern tires with a block tread pattern. Higher specifications and design features provide modern performance standards and a visual impact that captures the magic of the original.


The simple design of the backbone-style aluminium chassis ensures high rigidity. A total of 15 key gold-anodised aluminium components, which were optionally available in the original, such as the main chassis, shock strut and engine guard, are included as standard. 6061T6 aluminium alloy is used in the main chassis, shock towers and plates for superior strength and corrosion resistance. Countersunk head screws reduce the number of nuts used and create a flat surface. Gold-anodised underbody protection is also included as standard. 48-pitch sintered alloy gears combined with high-impact nylon gears and a newly added slipper clutch do justice to the current power plants. The transmission is equipped with a slipper clutch that protects the drive system from sudden load changes such as jump landings and can be easily adapted to different surface conditions. Aluminium oil dampers, which have been updated with an adjustment scale for the chassis height, while the style of the original has been retained. Refined shock absorber settings. The wider body design of the Turbo Optima (than the Optima) for compatibility with the 8.4V battery from 1986 has been faithfully recreated. The colour scheme of the packaging can be reproduced with the included decals and stickers. The new Turbo Optima still follows the style of the original, but features modern block-tread tyres for improved driving performance. The stylish large diameter (50mm/2in) wheels have been upgraded and are now one-piece and included as standard.
