Railroad Tug Brooklyn Dumas ABS Kit

The unique thing about the BROOKLYN is the fact that the tug was powered by steam for 50 years, i.e. until 1960! In 1960, the BROOKLYN was sold for scrapping. The BROOKLYN was one of the many railway tugs that connected the two New York boroughs. The railway carriages were loaded onto barges, which were moored to the left and right of the tugs. This also explains the solid construction of the lee and port sides. The very long deck superstructures, which were made possible by the lack of towing gear at the stern, were particularly characteristic of New York railway tugs. The BROOKLYN will give you the incomparably "beefy" atmosphere that was so typical of this generation of tugs.

The BROOKLYN kit has been completely revised and the new version has been available since 2009. The two-part hull is made of ABS, only a few structurally necessary components are still made of plywood. The deck superstructure is largely made of PVC foam panels, and the smallest components are precisely laser-cut from plywood - saving the modeller a lot of filling work. Portholes and railing supports are made of brass and the fittings are of cast metal quality - enough parts to spend long winter nights in the hobby room. A powerful electric motor or steam engine is suitable for driving the 80mm 4-blade propeller (not included).  Also completely new are the large 1:1 overview plans and very detailed building instructions (English) with many detailed drawings and construction stage photos for reference.
