Named after the highest New Hampshire White Mountain, the MOUNT WASHINGTON represents the traditional steamboat style on Lake Winnipesaukee. Built in 1872 for the then enormous sum of US$ 62,000, the MOUNT WASHINGTON served the population around Lake Winnipesaukee for over 67 years! On the night of 23 December 1939, a terrible dock fire destroyed the MOUNT WASHINGTON. This loss also put an end to steamboat travel on Lake Winnipesaukee.
The DUMAS kit, completely revised in 2010, contains everything needed to reproduce the old splendour of a paddle steamer. New is the complex hull made of very thick-walled ABS. The superstructure is mainly constructed from plastic parts, while the beams and stiffeners are made of plywood. The drive mechanism supplied should be fitted with a powerful motor with reduction gear in order to achieve a prototypical speed for the model! Numerous fine details made of ABS and cast metal, flags and decals give the MOUNT WASHINGTON the incomparable aura of a "steamer"!
Included are large overview plans and step-by-step building instructions (in English!) For many building steps there are extra detailed drawings and additionally a photo collection of the most important building stages. The kit is only suitable for experienced modellers, the time required to build the model is very high due to the many details and small parts and cannot be described as easy.
Equipped with light and sound modules from our range, the model becomes even more realistic!
