The lifeboat 'Emile Robin' was delivered in 1989 by the shipyard Nordsøværftet in Ringkøbing. It is equipped with two engines, each producing 384 hp. The top speed is 11 knots (about 20 km/h) and it can sail for 20 hours at full power.
Emile Robin (1819-1915) was a Paris-born merchant, philanthropist, cognac manufacturer and vice-president of the French non-profit association La Société Centrale de Sauvetage des Naufragés (Society for the Rescue of Castaways). Robin supported rescue work in a number of countries, not least Denmark. In the period 1891-1913 he set up eight foundations with a total capital of 114,900 kroner to support Danish rescuers and their families, and he donated barometers to several rescue stations. It is therefore only logical that a Danish lifeboat also bears his name.
MRB 20 "Emile Robin" is permanently stationed at the lifeboat station in Hvide Sande on the west coast of Denmark.
This kit is equipped with a deep-drawn ABS hull and laser-cut wooden parts. Rudder, ship's shaft with stern tube and propeller are provided for propulsion with electric motor. All fittings are included in the scope of delivery.
In this 2023 completely revised version, the manufacturer Billing Boats provides building instructions consisting of construction stage photos with very detailed illustrations and information on required parts and colours. An overview plan is also included.
Experienced modellers will find plenty of work to do when implementing the many details. It is a good idea to make the lighting functional and to equip the ship with a motor sound system.
