The USS Missouri (BB-63), also known as the ‘Mighty Mo’, is a legendary Iowa-class battleship that entered service in 1944 during the Second World War. She took part in decisive battles in the Pacific, including Iwo Jima and Okinawa, and became a symbol of US military power. The Missouri became particularly famous on 2 September 1945, when Japan's act of surrender was signed on board on her deck, officially ending the Second World War.
After the war, the USS Missouri took part in numerous conflicts, including the Korean War, where she served as support for landings, and the Gulf War in the early 1990s, where she was equipped with her massive guns and missiles. After almost fifty years of service, the battleship was finally decommissioned in 1992. Today, the USS Missouri is open to the public as a museum ship in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, attracting thousands of visitors who want to experience the historical significance of this impressive warship.

The USS Missouri BB-63 model kit is a complete construction kit and contains all the parts needed to build the model. There are two boxes full of cast metal fittings and 10 sheets of brass etchings needed for the very intricate components. The level of detail is very high. The sheer number of components (more than 6000) promises long-lasting building fun. The laser-cut components include the keel (MDF) and frames (plywood), and only selected high-quality woods are used for the planking. The superstructures are partly made of MDF panels as a substructure and photo-etched parts for the many details. The main guns can be rotated. The kit includes a coloured step-by-step construction manual that shows all the work steps in great detail. From a
1:1 view of the deck, the arrangement of the guns and superstructures can be seen. Detailed photos show complicated steps and provide quick orientation. Online on YouTube, Occre provides instruction videos that can supplement the building instructions but are not absolutely necessary. A simple model stand that is helpful in the construction process is included. The pedestal with metal columns shown in some pictures is optional and not included in the kit.
