H.M.S. VICTORY from 1805

After more than two years of intensive research and development, Calder Craft has succeeded in producing the most historically accurate model of the Victory as she was at the Battle of Trafalgar, with the help of documents that were previously not publicly available. This has also been confirmed in writing by the curator of the original ship in Portsmouth.

Some of the latest findings¸ which show the appearance of the Victory at Trafalgar, have already been taken into account in this model kit. These are still missing from the original, which is to be restored to the same condition.

Like the other kits in the Nelsons Navy series from Calder Craft, the kit has been produced with great care. The wooden parts are CNC-milled from plywood and precious wood. The underplanking strips in the area of the piece ports are also milled so that the position of the piece ports is exactly right. The moulding material for the double planking is of the highest quality. Many of the fittings are very carefully and precisely etched onto 8 brass plates.
157 metal castings for the decorations are precisely executed so that every detail can be recognised.

12 different types of rigging thread indicate the accuracy of this construction. 2500 scale copper plates for the underwater hull are also included.
Building the Victory from Calder Craft is not particularly difficult. The construction time is 2400 to 3000 hours and, of course, a basic knowledge of building historical ships from wood is expected. However, as every detail has been carefully thought through by the designer, the parts are prefabricated as far as possible, explained in 3 manuals as instructions and also shown to scale on countless building plans. The exact parts list ends at part no. 783 - probably the most elaborate kit currently available.
