The Schooner Endeavour was a famous sailing ship, best known for its participation in the America's Cup. The America's Cup is a sailing competition that has been held since 1851 and is considered the oldest and most prestigious competition in sailing.
Endeavour was designed by W. Starling Burgess in 1934 and built by the Herreshoff Manufacturing Company in Bristol, Rhode Island. The vessel was a 74-foot schooner and had a crew of 16.
Endeavour participated in the America's Cup in 1934 and 1937, but lost both times to the defending champion Rainbow. Despite this, the ship is considered one of the fastest and most advanced of its time.
After the second America's Cup race, Endeavour was sold and served as a private yacht and a charter boat. It was eventually abandoned in a New York City harbor in 1957 and fell into disrepair.
In the 1980s, an initiative was launched to build a replica of the vessel, now known as Endeavour II, which still occasionally competes in America's Cup races.
The kit includes laser-cut frames and wooden parts. Planking strips for double hull planking, as well as many brass and wood hardware parts are included. Fabric sails are included. A model stand is not included.
