HMS Beagle Ship Kit

The HMS Beagle was a British 10-gun brig (ten-gun brig or brig sloop) of the Cherokee class. The ship was used on survey voyages for the Royal Navy, particularly on the coasts of South America and Australia. She was particularly famous for her survey voyage under the command of Commander Robert FitzRoy, on which the young Charles Darwin was on board. She was built in the Woolwich shipyards and was launched on the Thames on 11 May 1820. In July 1820, she was the first ship to sail under what was then London Bridge during the naval parade for the coronation celebrations of King George IV. The HMS Beagle made 3 great voyages. Charles Darwin was only on board for the second expedition. Of the almost five years that this second expedition lasted, Darwin spent three years and three months ashore and eighteen months at sea. Included in the kit are sails, all parts and fittings, sorted by assembly. Different types of wood and precision-cut parts enable exact assembly and ensure a very realistic, detailed appearance. The kit includes a full-colour step-by-step construction manual that shows all the steps in detail. Detailed photos show complicated steps and provide quick orientation.
