French Doris Saint Malo

Discover the wooden model of the French Doris Saint Malo. This Canadian fishing boat was used in Massachusetts and the Canadian peninsula of Nova Scotia, and was later introduced to France, Spain and Portugal. The ship-like Doris were transported by mother ships, usually schooners, on whose decks the Doris were stowed, and were then used for cod fishing on the shores of Newfoundland with crews of one or two men. During the day, they returned to the mother ship several times to unload their catches. Due to their robustness, low cost and ease of stowage, the Doris continued to be used as workboats on sailing ships and many other powerboats.
