Peregrine HMS kit H.M.S. Peregrine
Our model of H.M.S. (His Majesty's Ship) Peregrine is based on one of Keltridge's original plans for the Admiralty and is a reproduction of a small warship classified as sixth rate and armed with 18-20 small calibre guns, built in 1686 for King George III's fleet. This type of warship was too small and too lightly armed to take part in the great naval battles alongside the much more powerful ships of the line and was therefore intended for other tasks, such as escorting merchant ships, exploratory voyages, the transmission of messages or the transport of high-ranking personalities. King George III actually chose one of this series of ships, which became famous as the royal yacht "Caroline" in 1749 after a radical remodelling of the interior.
