La Couronne (Corel) Construction kit LA COURQNNE
In 1636, the Couronne, built by shipwright Charles Morieur, was launched at the shipyard of Laroche Bernard. Cardinal Richelieu had managed to unite the rival port cities of France and set up a shipbuilding programme that would withstand the expected clashes with the Spanish and English fleets. In particular, a counterweight was to be created against the "Sovereign of the Seas", which was under construction in England at the same time.
With 72 guns and a crew of 600, the Couronne's equipment was enormous. Despite this load, the ship is said to have been extraordinarily manoeuvrable.
The model kit is of the highest quality. Large construction plans on a scale of 1:1 and many perspective drawings facilitate assembly.
The elegant shape, the finely crafted cast metal decorations and the three large stern lanterns make the model a magnificent showpiece.
A set of ready-sewn sails is optionally available under item no. |62081|.
