HMS Victory was launched on 7 May 1765 and was the fifth ship in the British fleet to bear this name. She first became famous when she took part in the naval battle of Trafalgar on 21 October 1805 as Admiral Nelson's flagship, in which Nelson lost his life.
Severely damaged, the Victory underwent makeshift repairs in Gibraltar and was later completely overhauled in England. She remained in service in the reserve fleet until 1824. HMS Victory then lay in Portsmouth harbour until 1922. Today, the proud ship has been fully restored, lies in dry dock and serves as a monument to past British naval supremacy.
This model of the HMS Victory is constructed on a scale of 1:98 and shows the sailing ship from the time before 1805. The construction plan is laid out very carefully and in detail. Many perspective drawings explain the construction step by step.
