Swedish galleon Wasa construction kit WASA
The Wasa was built between 1626 and 1628 by the Dutch master shipbuilder Henrik Hybertsson for the Swedish King Gustav Adolf II. It was intended to secure supremacy in the Baltic Sea. The ship had a displacement of 1,400 tonnes and a huge sail area of 1,150 square metres, with a length of 62 metres and a height of 50 metres. The Wasa is one of the most famous historical ships, not least because of the tragic sinking during its maiden voyage. The wreck was only located in 1956 and salvaged between 1959 and 1961. Today, the Wasa is moored in Stockholm harbour.
The model kit has been produced with great care. Frames and decks are cut out. The numerous cast decorations are gold-plated. The fittings set contains all the small parts made of wood or metal.
Alternatively, a set of ready-made sails is available under item no. |62090|.
