historical model ship galleon HMS Revenge wooden model kit
The HMS Revenge was an English galleon that Sir John Hawkins had built in the shipyard in Deptford in 1577. It was characterised by its special lightweight construction. The proportion between the length of the keel and the width of the ship was smaller and the bow and stern casemates were smaller than the typical casemates of galleons with a low freeboard. These features gave the galleon greater stability in battle. Under the command of Sir Francis Drake, HMS Revenge took part in several battles. In 1590, under Sir Frobisher, she took part in the expedition against the Spanish silver fleet and fell into the hands of the Spanish as a prize ship. On her way back to Spain, the Revenge sank in a terrible storm.
The kit contains sails, all parts and fittings, pre-sorted according to assemblies. Different types of wood and precision-cut parts enable exact assembly and ensure a very realistic, detailed appearance. The kit includes a full-colour step-by-step construction manual that shows all the steps in detail. Detailed photos show complicated steps and provide quick orientation.
