The XT90 connectors are made of gold-plated brass. The gold plating increases conductivity and corrosion resistance, but also reduces the wear caused by frequent plugging and unplugging of the plug and socket, which benefits the service life. At just 0.3 mOhm, the electrical resistance of the plug connection is very low and enables a short-term current carrying capacity of up to 90 A. To achieve this performance potential, the use of high-quality silicone cables with copper strands of 10 AWG or 6 mm² wire diameter is recommended. The housing and sockets of the XT90 system are made of impact-resistant nylon, which remains temperature-resistant during soldering and does not deform immediately.
We strongly recommend insulating the cable connections with heat-shrink tubing!
