NiMh Akkupack
NiMH battery
In addition to lithium-polymer and lead-acid batteries, there are also nickel-metal hydride (NiMH) rechargeable batteries. As a rule, individual cells are combined into packs. Each cell supplies a voltage of 1.2V. The number of cells defines the total voltage of the pack. Each cell holds a certain capacity of charge. The more capacity there is the longer the run time. We offer packs from well-known manufacturers such as Robbe, Robitronic or Orion.
Advantages of NiMH batteries
One advantage of nickel metal hydride batteries is their high energy density. The maintenance effort is manageable, storage is possible with little effort and low risk potential. The charging process with the right charger is simple. A disadvantage is the relatively high weight.
NiMH battery types
There are various designs such as hump packs or stick packs. There are 5-7 or more single cells together. The most common for RC cars are 6 cell stick packs with 7.2V. In smaller models, smaller 2/3A cells are used, but normally sub-C cells. Packs with the desired voltage/cell count or capacity can easily be made from single cells.
